The Potential of Openness
As summer begins to bloom in my corner of Vancouver Island, BC, my favorite pastime is listening to the robins sing in the early evening. While I listen, I become enchanted by the sweet and spontaneous twirling of rising and falling notes. After awhile, I become aware of openness of the space that contains me, the robin, the tree it sits within, all the other trees and plants nearby, the buildings, road and vehicles. Enjoyment can be found in experience of openness that contains everything within it. In these times I am also aware of the forces that continue to threaten our lives through false information, polarization, and programming. Modern societies have become fear-based. It is commonplace for people: to not want to know; to believe that change for the better is too hard; or that they did not have a choice in what they chose to do. Actually, in the very moment of awareness that our thoughts and beliefs are limiting, and that our fears are illusions, we have choice. The more we practice self awareness, the more potential we can manifest in our lives. Let’s turn off the fear-based news, mainstream and social media to take daily mini retreats at home. Perhaps at first there might be feelings of discomfort, like the withdrawal from excess caffeine. But is that hard, or just temporary unfamiliar sensations? You can discover your innate capacity to grow and bloom as you freely choose from inner openness. |
